The Snow Queen Cigar Smoker of the Year 2015

Jonathan Ross crowned Snow Queen Cigar Smoker of the Year 2015

December 1 2015

Tuesday 1st December saw Boisdale of Canary Wharf honour both cigar aficionados and celebrity cigar smokers from around the world at the highly esteemed Snow Queen Cigar Smoker of the Year Awards Dinner 2015.

Jonathan Ross was awarded the ultimate recognition of the night and was announced as The Snow Queen Cigar Smoker Of The Year 2015, whilst legendary Hollywood actor and director, Burt Reynolds scooped the Snow Queen Lifetime Cigar Achievement Award.

The glamorous evening, hosted by Tom Parker Bowles, saw the great and the good from television presenters through to politicians attend the celebrations, with guests including: Jonathan Ross and son Harvey Kirby, Burt Reynolds, Nancy Dell’Ollio, Marc Sinden, Andrew Neil, Julian Dicks and Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency, Mrs Teresita de Jesús Vicente Sotolongo.

Before announcing the ultimate winners, Tom Parker Bowles publicly contested last year’s runner up, Kelsey Grammer’s claim that his mother, the Duchess of Cornwall had pinched his behind. Tom proclaimed that the Duchess had said it to be “a load of rubbish” when he confronted her, a conversation he left open for Kelsey to dispute next year…

Jonathan was seen enjoying cigars with Boisdale owner and awards founder, Ranald Macdonald and host Tom Parker Bowles, all eagerly awaiting the arrival of their self-professed hero Burt Reynolds, who arrived just in time for dinner to partake in a live auction in aid of the UK Youth Charity.

Ross and Reynolds went head to head in a stand off bid, igniting the fire for guests to reach into their pockets and donate to the celebrated cause in time for Christmas. Mark Thomson, UK Ambassador for Glenfiddich, hosted the auction, where lots included rare whiskies, experiences and cigars.

As Burt Reynolds accepted his award, he recognised previous winner Arnold Schwarzenegger’s achievements, but quipped that he felt more recognised as a Hollywood peer as The Govenator has never been nominated for an Academy Award, unlike himself.

As well as being crowned the The Snow Queen Cigar Smoker Of The Year 2015, Jonathan Ross also received a humidor of rare cigars, and a number of stunning gifts from MONTEGRAPPA, including wristwatch, cufflinks and fountain pen.

Guest’s enjoyed a sumptuous dinner of expertly sourced Hebridean shellfish and Aberdeen Angus Beef Fillet, of which Boisdale is famed for. Following dinner, guests returned to Boisdale’s famous smoking terrace to enjoy cigars perfectly paired with the award winning Glenfiddich 15 and 21 Year Old Malt Whiskies, accompanied by the Cuban All Stars, who performed music from the Buena Vista Social Club songbook.
