Boisdale hosts London's Chefs in Annual Shoot
Rivalry, Skill and Haggis Boules Take Centre Stage!
Now in its ninth thrilling year, the Boisdale Shooting Chefs has once again proven itself to be one of the UK hospitality industry’s most eagerly awaited events. Held at the legendary Holland & Holland shooting school, this year’s competition was nothing short of fierce, as culinary titans and restaurateur royalty faced off in a spirited clash of skill, precision and, naturally, a touch of flamboyance.
The day began with the warmest of welcomes at Boisdale of Belgravia, where guests gathered for breakfast before embarking on a rather splendid journey aboard a classic red double-decker bus. Off to the verdant expanses of Holland & Holland we went.
The competition reached new heights this year with two powerhouse teams. The Chefs squared off against the Restaurateurs with passion, panache and unrelenting determination, delivering a spectacle to remember. The shooting course was challenging yet enjoyable for novices, pros and unexpected stars. Post-firing, the inaugural British Haggis Boules Championship began, an unusual game that combined a sense of Scottish heritage with whimsy, as haggis were tossed in an aim to land next to the oh-so patriotic Union Jack while spectators sported glasses brimming with Veuve Clicquot, Balvenie and Highclere Castle Gin with crafted canapés under the glorious sunshine.
As the day wore on and appetites grew, guests returned to Boisdale of Belgravia for a decadent feast. There was Aberdeen angus steak tartare, hearty wild venison pie and a lavish selection of British cheeses. All of this was, of course, complemented by exquisite wines from Davy’s, including the graceful Tenuta Pelassa ‘Tucci’ Bianco and the bold Chateau Daugay ‘Le Piou’ Cabernet Franc.
As the festivities wound down, acclaimed food and drink writer Bill Knott took the helm to announce the day's winners.
