In a relaxed, intimate two week residency, from 8 – 12th & 15th — 19th January at Boisdale of Canary Wharf, Rebecca will be sharing the inspiration she has enjoyed from her favourite songs and artists from the golden age of vinyl.
Her iconic song selection will include:
Hit the Road Jack
Mad About the Boy
I Gotta Woman
Rebecca Ferguson has had an astonishing career securing her position as one of the world’s most successful vocalists and song writers. Her four chart topping albums include a stunning tribute to Billie Holliday “Lady Sings the Blues” which was met with rapturous critical acclaim. She is also famous for turning down Donald Trump’s request for her to sing at his Presidential Inauguration by agreeing to do so only if she could sing Billie Holliday’s “Strange Fruit,” a remarkably soulful, beautiful and poignant protest song against American racism written in 1937.
“ I want to recreate the atmosphere of the old jazz clubs where people could sit and eat in comfort and style and had the opportunity afterwards of enjoying a close and intimate setting with the performing artists. They told their story and the audience would listen. The plan is to record the evenings onto vinyl, so the audience will be a part of the recording. With the new digital age now upon us I wanted to make something for posterity that people can hold onto that is classic and timeless I can’t wait, it’s going to be a lot of fun!” — Rebecca Ferguson
