Bois­dale host­ed a fundrais­ing lunch to sup­port the Queen Eliz­a­beth II Sep­tem­ber 11 Gar­den in New York and its twin in Lon­don. The Gar­den lunch was host­ed to cel­e­brate friend­ship between the Unit­ed States, the UK and the Com­mon­wealth and at the same its twin­ning with the Gar­den ter­race at Bois­dale Canary Wharf. A for­mal unveil­ing cer­e­mo­ny of a plaque was held at 12.15pm, fol­lowed by the lunch.

The Garden’s Hon­orary Patron, Dan­ny Lopez, made a short address over lunch. Dan­ny Lopez is British Con­sul Gen­er­al, New York and Direc­tor Gen­er­al for UK Trade & Invest­ment USA

HRH Prince Charles is the Roy­al Patron of the Gar­den which was vis­it­ed by HM the Queen in 2010, when she met many of the British vic­tims’ fam­i­lies. Many Com­mon­wealth peo­ple as well as Amer­i­cans died on 911 in New York. The Gar­den in New York remem­bers them and the strong bonds between the Unit­ed States and Great Britain, HM The Queen and the Com­mon­wealth. We enjoy free­doms com­mon­ly fought for and shared. The Gar­den’s mot­to is sow­ing the seeds of friend­ship and peace”. The lunch aimed to raise aware­ness of the Gar­den and raise funds to pay for its conservancy.
