Boisdale hosted a fundraising lunch to support the Queen Elizabeth II September 11 Garden in New York and its twin in London. The Garden lunch was hosted to celebrate friendship between the United States, the UK and the Commonwealth and at the same its twinning with the Garden terrace at Boisdale Canary Wharf. A formal unveiling ceremony of a plaque was held at 12.15pm, followed by the lunch.
The Garden’s Honorary Patron, Danny Lopez, made a short address over lunch. Danny Lopez is British Consul General, New York and Director General for UK Trade & Investment USA.
HRH Prince Charles is the Royal Patron of the Garden which was visited by HM the Queen in 2010, when she met many of the British victims’ families. Many Commonwealth people as well as Americans died on 9⁄11 in New York. The Garden in New York remembers them and the strong bonds between the United States and Great Britain, HM The Queen and the Commonwealth. We enjoy freedoms commonly fought for and shared. The Garden’s motto is “sowing the seeds of friendship and peace”. The lunch aimed to raise awareness of the Garden and raise funds to pay for its conservancy.
