Chivas 7 Cs of Chivalry Journey Back in Time
Tuesday 2 February * Boisdale of Belgravia
On Tuesday 2 February Boisdale members are invited to 7 Cs of Chivalry, a luxurious and indulgent tasting hosted by Phil Huckle of Chivas Regal. Our host will take us on a journey through time explaining the concept of chivalry which can be traced to the early middle ages and the days of the Crusades.
The four pillars of chivalry - gallantry, brotherhood, honour and valour – will be linked to seven extravagant and sumptuous products sampled on the night. Only the finest most excessive and extravagant ingredients, all beginning with the letter “C”, will be presented for the connoisseurs’ delectation on the night.
Champagne – a drink that first gained world renown because of its association with the anointment of French kings. Royalty from throughout Europe spread the message of the unique sparkling wine from Champagne and its association with luxury and power. The leading manufacturers devoted considerable energy to creating a history and identity for their wine, associating it and themselves with nobility and royalty.
Caviar - a favourite of the Russian royal court and popularised around Europe by arguably Russia’s greatest monarch Catherine the Great.
Charcuterie - a Black Pig from the south western province Extremadura enjoyed by Spanish aristocracy and a favourite of the Spanish royal court. The pig comes from the area where the last of the King Templars held out before they were slain in 1307.
