The Glenfarclas distillery has been in existence for almost 175 years with its first licence granted in 1836 when it as purchased by Robert Hay. In 1865 it was bought by a prominent local cattle breeder John Grant and apart from a short-lived stint of joined ownership with the Pattison brothers, the distillery has remained in the hands of his descendants one of whom will host our tasting on Wednesday 28 October. George Grant, a charismatic and captivating host, will introduce guests to four expressions of this outstanding Scottish malt. The dinner will also see the launch of Boisdale No 4 Claret 2007 which has been created for us by the owners of Château Belgrave in Haut-Medoc and Château La Garde in Pessac-Leognan. It is quite simply delicious, displaying luscious ripe tannins and a voluptuous but elegant body of finely balanced soft fruit with a judicious touch of oak.
