Boisdale Goes Dutch - Ketel One Vodka Tasting and Drinks Party
Tuesday 23 June * Boisdale of Belgravia
Members: at no charge (up to 3 guests); Non Members: £15; 6-7.30pm.
On Tuesday 23 June Boisdale of Belgravia invites members to go Dutch. The multi-award winning Ketel One vodka will be hosting a tasting and drinks party during which members will have an opportunity to taste this great spirit, often described as “vodka for the connoisseurs”.
Made at the 300-year-old distillery in Schiedam, Holland, and named after the original coal-fired still (a copper pot that’s still in use and strictly hand-operated) from 1864. Ketel One is known for its attention to detail. In each batch, makers discard both the first and last 100 gallons of distillate (the former is too harsh, the latter too weak).
Consistency and quality are ensured by having a member of the owning Nolet family (the 11th generation!) personally sample the result. The method gives great smoothness but it means that the high quality control process is time consuming, rather like creating a fine malt whisky or cognac. Ketel One is surprisingly easy to drink neat, the flavour is rounded and it clings to the palate for a long time. On the night guests will have an opportunity to taste Ketel One and Ketel One Citroen – a variant infused with fresh, natural citrus flavour alongside Grey Goose to show the differences in the production process as well as flavour.
After the tasting we’ll be serving a small selection of cocktails specially created for the evening by the Ketel One team, ranging in flavour from citrus to gingerbread.
Bookings can be made with Zoe on 020 7730 6922 (zoe@boisdale.co.uk) . 6-7.30pm.
