Great Jazz at Boisdale This Spring

March - April 2009

Boisdale, London’s home of classic jazz has recently been featuring a far wider range of musical styles and this spring we’re sure to have something for every musical connoisseur.

Reuben Richards is a soul and blues singer whose energy and vocal power have made an explosive impact on the theatre and TV audiences. His strong and enduring voice is uncannily close to Otis Redding and you can enjoy his unforgettable voice and imaginative arrangements at Boisdale of Belgravia every Friday night from 10pm.

Craig Schneider, currently touring the UK with his Nat King Cole (pictured) tribute show “Unforgetable”, brings his trio “Fly Right” to Boisdale on the 3 and 10 of April. You’ll hear “Sweet Lorraine”, “Paper Moon” “Orange Cloured Sky” “Straighten Up and Fly Right” and many more great hits.

Texan Swing returns to Boisdale. Heather Simmons brings her six piece “Wills Fargo” back to the club on March 17. This great music brought together the swing of the ‘30s and ‘40s with the Texan country music of the period and the combination is irresistible. Bob Wills was its biggest star and the band will feature some of his Texas Playboy favourites “San Antonio Rose”, “It’s a Good Day” and “Am I High? “

Eric Ranzoni’s Blues Band continues its highly successful Saturday night residency. Eric heavily features the Chicago blues of Muddy Waters. Come on down and we’ll get your mojo working.

Monday is Hot Club night at Boisdale featuring our resident violin virtuosos Mike Piggott and Andy Aitcheson. Jeff Green, who worked with Stephane Grappelli for many years is one of our regular guitarists. Hot Club favourites are Sweet Georgia Brown,Swing 42, Minor Swing and Nuages.
