Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from last year the Hunters & Frankau summer party will, once again, be held at The Langham Hotel, London on Thursday 31st May from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Although full details are yet to be confirmed, the night will include the launch of the Punch Medalla de Oro (Gold Medal). Measuring 6 1/8" (155mm) x 50 ring gauge (same dimensions as a Trinidad Robusto T), the Punch is the second UK Regional Edition from 2011 to be released and will be available in numbered boxes of ten, each carrying a second band denoting the exclusivity to the UK market (Exclusivo Gran Bretana). The cigar will also be partly dressed in gold embossed foil (similar style to the Bolivar Gold Medal) and will be emblazoned with the EMS logo.

On the night, each guest will receive 2 x Punch Medalla de Oro (Gold Medal) cigars, 1 x Hoyo de Monterrey Short Hoyo Pirámides (2011 Habanos Limited Edition), along with Laurent Perrier champagne, cocktails and Dalmore Cigar Malt whisky. Cognac will also be offered by Hine (H by Hine, Rare VSOP and Cigar Reserve). There will also be canapés, buffet and a live Cuban band to help make the evening memorable.

The First Event of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
Friday 1 & Saturday 2 June

The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897. This is undoubtedly one of the most important racing days of all time and certainly for those who cherish our Queen, a poignant day to celebrate a life dedicated to her country and people, and reflect upon the joys and challenges that her reign has seen over the last 60 years. Perhaps one of the Queen’s greatest pleasures in life continues to be her dedication to racing. More than 200,000 race goers are expected to attend the Investec Derby Festival this year and global television audiences of over 1 billion are anticipated. We hope to see the return of the Queen’s horse Carlton House in The Investec Coronation Cup. If Carlton House were to win the Queen would be absolutely delighted and nearly a quarter of the world’s population would be celebrating with her… We’ll have to wait and see!

The most prestigious enclosure available throughout the Festival will be the Boisdale Enclosure, located next to the Queen’s Stand on The Prince’s Lawn. Part of Epsom’s Premier Enclosure, the Boisdale Enclosure badge will entitle you to access both the Queen’s Stand and Grandstand Enclosures should you wish. The Prince’s Lawn is situated on the finishing line between the Queen’s Stand and the Owners and Trainers Prince’s Stand. Lunch will be served inside the pavilion in which giant flat screen televisions will show all the racing. The Boisdale Enclosure extends all the way to the rails. Quite simply, there is not a better position from which to observe some of the finest quality thoroughbred horseracing in the world. The dress code will be suits on Investec Ladies Day and formal top hat and tails on Investec Derby Day.

The Boisdale exclusive facility will include a magnificent Whisky & Cigar Bar and an all-day complimentary Oyster & Champagne Bar. At the caviar reception Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2002 champagne will be served. As the Queen arrives on Investec Derby Day a toast will be proposed with Chivas Royal Salute 25 year old whisky. The lunch will include Scottish lobster and the very finest dry aged Aberdeen Angus fillet of beef accompanied by exceptional white Burgundy and Claret. Traditional tea will be served with Boisdale Vintage 2005 Rosé Champagne. Betting facilities will be located within the Boisdale Enclosure, so there will be no reason to leave! After the races the party will continue with more Champagne and cocktails and truly the ultimate Frank Sinatra tribute from Stephen Triffitt and his big band.

The Glorious Twelfth approaches fast and Boisdale, London’s premier Scottish restaurant, is poised to mark the start of the grouse shooting season with a bang launching on 17 August a sumptuous  Grouse Deal for £27.50, complete with a glass of Justerini & Brooks Red Burgundy.  This represents the best offer of its kind in London and is available for a limited time only.

AWARD WINNING CHEF

Neil Churchill, award-winning Head Chef of Boisdale of Bishopsgate, will be serving Williamston Moor whole-roasted grouse with his twist on the traditional accoutrements of braised Savoy cabbage, grouse pâté crouton, rosti potato, bread sauce and game gravy.  The subtle aroma of the Justerini & Brooks Red Burgundy – emanating from an estate in the heart of the finest vineyards of Vosne-Romanée - perfectly complements the delicate richness of the new season game bird.

The prospect of the Glorious Twelfth particularly excites the Boisdale Head Chef. “I always design the menus according to the seasonal produce and I relish the challenge of finding new flavours to complement the game at the beginning of the season,” enthuses Neil.

Neil Churchill, known for his love of game, is extremely adept at showcasing British cooking with strong Scottish roots. He was awarded the ‘Best Game Dish’ by Restaurant Magazine in 2007, with a winning dish comprising Roasted Crown and Slow-Braised Leg of Berwickshire Grouse, Spiced Seared Foie Gras And Lemon Dust ‘En Feuilleté’, With Pickled Blueberries And Truffled Mashed Potatoes.

BIRD UNIQUE TO THE BRITISH ISLES

The red grouse - or ‘bird of heather’ to translate the Gaelic form of its name - is undisputed king of game birds and the only one that is unique to the British Isles. Indigenous to the moorlands of Scotland, Ireland and northern England, the medium-sized gamebird is smaller than a pheasant and boasts a rounded tail. Strong and fast-flying, the grouse is a challenge to shoot.

Ranald Macdonald, proprietor and founder of Boisdale, is fully embracing the season by taking on the ‘Macnab’ challenge this year.  The challenge requires a salmon, a stag, and a brace of grouse all to be taken on the same day, but Ranald remains undaunted: “The philosophy of Boisdale is distinctly Hebridian, so the Macnab challenge is a great way to embrace Scottish tradition and see in the season. I’m thrilled to be able to serve customers traditional grouse for such a superb price.”

Boisdale, London’s Scottish restaurant, today launches the most expensive omelette in the world made from gull’s eggs, lobster and truffles.

Neil Churchill, Chef at Boisdale of Bishopsgate will be using native Hebridean Blue Lobster, West Minch cock crab, wild garlic, Wye valley new season asparagus & Piedmont summer truffles in the omelette, priced at £90. 

A number of other gull’s egg dishes, individually priced, include: coddled eggs served with spring morels, Wye Valley asparagus, duck hearts and woodland herbs. Those who prefer their eggs scrambled will be treated to smoked wild Dunkeld salmon & summer truffle shavings whilst the gull’s Scotch egg will be accompanied by beetroot pickle, mustard cress & salad cream or as traditionally served at Boisdale of Bishopsgate for the past seven years, simply hard boiled and seasoned with celery salt.

The gull’s dishes will be available from 11^th May but, owing to the very short gull’s egg season, they will only be available for a few weeks. Gull’s eggs, with their green mottled shells and bright yellow yolks, are well known for their rich flavour.

Only a handful of organisations are licensed to gather them.  They have a magnificent flavour, make an incredibly light a fluffy omelette and are ridiculously expensive.  I am delighted to be able to offer our customers this rare culinary experience for a very short period of time.”
