Amongst the regulars and irregulars seen on stage are singers Liz Fletcher, Joan Viskant, Gary Williams, Lizzie Scott, Frank Holder; horn players Alan Barnes, Pete Long, Matt Wates, Ray Gelato, Jonny Boston, Steve Kaldestad, Rico Tomasso, Mike Henry, Steve Fishwick; pianists Richard Busiakiewicz, Jack Honeyborne, Keith Nichols, Christian Vaughan; and bassists Roy Babbington, Murray Salmon, Jerome Davis and Julie Walkington.

Every Thursday: TJ Johnson & his Band

Backed by his group of top British musicians TJ plays an extraordinary blend of music that transcends the boundaries of jazz, blues, soul, country and gospel and is influenced by the likes of Ray Charles, Dr John, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, BB King, Nina Simone, Alberta Hunter, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Witherspoon and many more.

‘One of the most popular on the scene… playing music that goes into warmer and more exotic realms’ (Humphrey Lyttelton – Radio 2)

‘Never fails to get an audience going…TJ Johnson & his band are the best live jazz and rhythm & blues band around. Brilliant.’ – Jack Hepplewhite – (The Jazz Agency)

Every Friday: Reuben Richards & The Soul Train

Reuben is a great singer and showman who brought his band “Soul Train” to Boisdale and wowed the crowd. He’s a dynamite Otis Redding style vocalist whose style is a unique blend of R’n’B, soul, blues and funky jazz.

‘This guy has got it - there is no doubt about it, even the most cursory listen will convince. Definitely a name to watch for’ – Norman Darwen – (Blues in Britain)

‘It’s as good as it gets’ – Emperor Rosko

Every Saturday: Eric Ranzoni

Eric Ranzoni is a piano thumping, blues shouting entertainer who every Saturday presents the finest blues music to be heard this side of the Mississippi and either side of the Thames. In March 2009 Eric toured the UK with Mud Morganfield, the first born son of music legend Muddy Waters whom Eric considers the most naturally dignified and charismatic blues performer ever born.

‘Excellent numbers with menacing left hand rumblings and rolling right hand work, just like Otis Spann’’ – Jim Greaves - (Blues in Britain)

… AFTER DARK

With an ambiance somewhere between a New Orleans dive and a 1950s New York jazz club, the music scene at Boisdale has evolved and the sound of blues and soul now regularly features later in the week.

Our aim is to provide a refuge from the modern world with soul stirring contemporary versions of classic jazz and blues in a warm, eclectic atmosphere in which one can either simply dine or relax at the bar. On which note, Boisdale enjoys one of the most extensive selections of fine wine and premium spirits in the UK, although we are most famous for our award winning range of malt whiskies. For a dram and great live music there is not a finer venue on the planet. For those who enjoy a smoke after dinner and before jazz, our Cigar Terrace is open all day until 11pm Monday to Saturday.

Music timings

The performances take place from 9.30pm-11.30pm on Mondays and 10pm – midnight for the rest of the week (Fridays are 10pm – 12.30am).

After 10pm, an optional jazz charge of £4.50 is payable by dining non-members who are already on the premises, whilst an admission charge of £12 is payable by non-members arriving after 10pm and after 11pm the jazz door charge is reduced £6.
